# FileShelf > FileShelf is a native macOS file library. It indexes folders you choose on your Mac, shows files as big visual previews, finds them with plain-language search, lets you park files on a Shelf while you move between apps, keeps clipboard history, and helps clean up forgotten downloads — without sending your files to the cloud. FileShelf sits next to Finder; it does not replace it. Indexing, search, OCR and clipboard storage stay on-device. The only network use is license activation and periodic license checks. ## Product - Homepage: https://fileshelf.pages.dev/ - Privacy: https://fileshelf.pages.dev/privacy - Pricing (machine-readable): https://fileshelf.pages.dev/pricing.md - Download: https://fileshelf.pages.dev/FileShelf.dmg - Support: support@fileshelf.app ## Who it is for Mac users who lose files in Downloads, struggle with Finder search, juggle two windows to move files between apps, or lose earlier copies (macOS before Tahoe keeps only the last thing copied). ## What it does - Browse connected folders as a visual library (images, documents, videos, audio, archives) - Search with everyday language (examples: “pdfs from last week”, “lisbon”, “documents from this week”) - Shelf: shake while dragging or push against a screen edge to park files, then drag the stack into another app; optional Email Size / Zip actions - Clipboard History: ⌃⌥V in any app; skips password managers; one-time codes expire - Clean Up: forgotten downloads, old screenshots, installers — Trash with ⌘Z undo - On-device only: files never leave the Mac; license key is the only personal data sent ## Requirements - macOS 14 Sonoma or later - Apple silicon and Intel - No account required ## Pricing summary - 7-day free trial from first launch - After trial: browsing, search and previews stay free; Shelves, Clipboard History and Actions need a one-time license - Early bird (first 200 customers): $9 / 1 Mac, $19 / 3 Macs, $29 / 5 Macs - Regular: $29 / 1 Mac, $49 / 3 Macs, $69 / 5 Macs - No subscription; updates included - Full detail: https://fileshelf.pages.dev/pricing.md ## Not FileShelf - Not a Finder replacement - Not cloud storage or sync - Not App Store–distributed (direct download + license key) - Not related to older web projects that share the “fileshelf” name ## Optional - Cashback: post about FileShelf on Reddit or X; if that post passes 2,000 real views, claim a full refund and keep the license (see homepage) ## Guides (Mac and iPhone tips) - [Find a File on Mac When You Forgot the Name](https://fileshelf.pages.dev/guides/how-to-find-a-file-on-mac-when-you-forgot-the-name) - [How to Free Up Space on Mac](https://fileshelf.pages.dev/guides/how-to-free-up-space-on-mac) - [How to Move Files Between Apps on Mac](https://fileshelf.pages.dev/guides/how-to-move-files-between-apps-on-mac) - [How to See Clipboard History on Mac](https://fileshelf.pages.dev/guides/how-to-see-clipboard-history-on-mac) - [How to Transfer Photos from iPhone to Mac](https://fileshelf.pages.dev/guides/how-to-transfer-photos-from-iphone-to-mac) - [iPhone and Mac Continuity Tips](https://fileshelf.pages.dev/guides/iphone-and-mac-continuity-tips) - [Where Are Screenshots Saved on Mac?](https://fileshelf.pages.dev/guides/where-are-screenshots-saved-on-mac) - [Where Do AirDrop Files Go on Mac?](https://fileshelf.pages.dev/guides/where-do-airdrop-files-go-on-mac) ## Comparisons - [Best Clipboard Managers for Mac (2026)](https://fileshelf.pages.dev/compare/best-clipboard-managers-for-mac) - [Best Finder Alternatives for Mac (2026)](https://fileshelf.pages.dev/compare/best-finder-alternatives-for-mac) - [FileShelf vs Finder: What Each Does Best](https://fileshelf.pages.dev/compare/fileshelf-vs-finder) - [Shelf Apps for Mac: Dropover, Yoink and More](https://fileshelf.pages.dev/compare/shelf-apps-for-mac)
